New Year new start…. It’s up to you!

Everyone has a starting point, once you realize and accept that, then it no longer matters if you’ve never exercised. As long as you’re committed to exercising and living healthier it will be much easier to view your starting point, unlike your forever point—if you choose to do nothing—as temporary as long as you keep moving forward.

What I want to share with you are some simple suggestions that will make your progression in moving forward easier.

• Less is more

In the beginning your muscles, tendons, and ligaments will require some time to become conditioned for the more intense training that will take place in the future. The body will not be accustomed to the demands that are being placed on it. In turn, it will respond with even minimal stimulus. If not given adequate time easing into a routine, you risk injury and overtraining which is counter productive.

• Educate/seek proper guidance

So you don’t become one of the many that simply go through the motions, take the time to understand the basics of how the body works. By knowing how the muscles move and how they should be felt during each exercise you’ll be saving yourself time and energy, and preventing possible injury.

There are several important factors to address when choosing to get in better shape and feel healthier. Exercising is part of the equation but equally important is providing the proper food in your eating plan to ensure all the proper nutrients are available when the body/muscles require them. You also must allow the body to rest to ensure maximal recovering and repair from the stress that is being placed on it. In the beginning it’s easy for it to appear like there’s just too much to know and do. But remind yourself nothing’s better in life when you feel healthy and live pain free. In time you’ll see yourself meet your goals and find new ones to strive for; so until then try to enjoy the process and trust there’s a perfection to it all.
