• We sometimes set ourselves up for unrealistic expectations. Starting an exercise program takes time and patience to see results. Just stop and think how long it took you to get where you are now. It does not happen overnight. Losing weight takes time if you do it the right way, meaning no fad diets! You’re setting yourself up for failure and disappointment.
• Exercising is forever. You have to make it a PRIORITY in your daily activities. I know you’re thinking to yourself I know all this but ask yourself, "What is holding me back from making the commitment?" Is it lack of Time, Motivation and Knowledge?
• Weight loss involves many components; some beyond our control, genetics, hormones, metabolism and age. (Look for upcoming articles on these topics.) I know how frustrating this can be. The last five years I have noticed it’s harder to maintain my weight. I find I have to eat less and exercise more. But there is hope. If you start to burn more calories than you are eating, your body will start to respond gradually.
• I promise, with time, your commitment, my motivation and knowledge, this does not have to be another broken New Year’s resolution.
