Hanging on the window of Red Dog’s is a poster offering a $500 reward for information leading to the recovery of a television and the arrest of the perpetrators of a breaking and entering at the home of Charlie Maultsby, Red Dogs owner. Maultsby arrived at his house Friday afternoon, Oct. 30, and discovered a pile of his belongings sitting in his unlocked garage.
Upon further investigation, Maultsby discovered that his computer monitor, two surf watches and his big screen 52-inch television were missing from his bedroom.
The television is valued at $2,000. The monitor and watches are worth an estimated $1,100, combined, according to a police report.
Now, Maultsby is asking the public for help regarding the identification of the suspects and the recovery of his possessions.
Maultsby lives in the Masonboro area of Wilmington.
The incident was immediately reported to the Wilmington Police Department, which has listed the case as inactive, according to a report filed by Officer C.M. Salas.
Because items were piled in his garage, Maultsby suspects the robbers had planned to steal more but were scared off the property somehow.
Inside the garage were his mother’s sterling silver silverware, golf clubs, a chainsaw, several hardware items, a computer printer and a bag of change, Maultsby said.
He said he had left his doors unlocked.
