Eastwood development establishes $10,000 endowment fund
Autumn Hall recently gave Cape Fear Community College (CFCC) $10,000 to start an endowment fund. CFCC spokesman David Hardin said the scholarship will be awarded to a student enrolled in architectural technology, mechanical engineering technology, drafting and design or light construction programs at the college.
Hardin also said the first scholarship will be awarded for the fall semester in 2010 to a student with a minimum grade point average of 3.0.
"Cape Fear Community College is a true economic driver for our region as well as an important and under-recognized contributor to improving the social fabric of our community," said Autumn Hall vice president Raiford Trask.
ECB offers aid to elderly veterans
East Carolina Bank (ECB) recently became the first North Carolina bank to aid elderly veterans with crime prevention. ECB announced a community reinvestment act (CRA) community development investment of $250,000 in support of a veterans’ initiative through the Senior Housing Crime Prevention Foundation (SHCPF).
SHCPF ensures that 40,000 veterans living in160 state veteran nursing homes in the U.S. are able to live out their lives in safe, secure, and enhanced quality-of-life environments provided through SHCPF’s Senior Crimestoppers program.
Dwight Utz, president and CEO of ECB said that they are thrilled and honored to be a part of the initiative.
"ECB’s geographical footprint serves a large contingent of military families and veterans and we believe it’s a worthy and noble mission to support our veterans," he added.
