Frances Scarlett will be playing an important role in the state’s economic recovery plan as the new regional director of the Small Business and Technology Development Center at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
A news release issued recently by university spokeswoman Dana Fischetti asserted that Scarlett will be at the helm of a center that strives to help businesses grow while creating more jobs throughout the state.
Scarlett will be a crucial tool in helping companies recognize and leverage the strengths of their business, said Larry Clark, dean of the Cameron School of Business.
He also said that Scarlett’s vast experience will enable her to maximize a business’s potential for revenue growth.
"Her experience working with companies across several industries has prepared her well for assessing the situations of businesses large and small and recommending efficient, sustainable solutions," Clark said. "Fran’s experience as a business strategy consultant will be invaluable in this role."
Scarlett holds a master’s degree in business administration from Harvard University and a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Boston University.
She has run her own management consulting firm in Ohio, Scarlett Ink Media, since 2007 and prior to that she was the creator and general manager of the custom publishing division of a major newspaper and Internet company.
