Patrons take in the bonsai art of Tom Colantuono and Stephanie B. Holt’s acrylic on canvas paintings inside the Charleston-style home at 211 Summer Rest Road as part of a popup art show to benefit the Early Bread program on Friday, Nov. 22.

The artwork of four local artists filled each of the four levels of the white Charleston-style home at 211 Summer Rest Road for a popup art show on Friday, Nov. 22.

Hosted by Barbara Pugh, the Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage listing agent for the property, 25 percent of the art sales that evening were donated to the Early Bread program.

Pugh said she got the idea for the popup art show from a real estate agent in California and that the Early Bread program, which feeds the homeless, became a charity near to her heart after she volunteered.

The four artists included Jazz Undy’s Jazzy Boy Art Studio, Michael Sing Photography, acrylic on canvas by Stephanie B. Holt and bonsai by Tom Colantuono.

Throughout the home patrons filed past the different art installations on each floor while enjoying hors d’oeuvres by South Beach Grill.

Pugh said she thought the house would be perfect for the art show and hoped vital funds could be raised for Early Bread. One of the art purchases made early on in the evening was one of Sing’s photographs, purchased by Pugh herself.

Undy recently reopened his temporary art retail shop in the Rita’s Italian Ice in Wrightsville Beach and said he would like to see more popup art shows in Wilmington.

“I think we should do this all the time,” Undy said. “It is really popular in California and here it is almost like it is cutting edge.”

On Monday, Nov. 25, Pugh said $11,000 was raised for the Early Bread program during the popup art show.
