Kenny Hand of Kowabunga Surf Camp was paddleboard fishing in Masonboro Inlet on Wednesday, Aug.28 when he spied what appeared to be the wreck of the USS Columbia, which ran aground on Jan.14, 1863. No recent photographs of the wreck of the 503-ton, 168-foot long screw steamer buried under 10-15 feet of sediment are on record. More about the shipwreck can be read online www.wrightsvillebeachmagazine.com/flash/2013-1/#/14/
