Changes in flood insurance removing two longstanding “grandfather” clauses in, or even near, the respective 100-year floodplain shown on flood maps as a result of the Biggert-Waters Act of 2012. Other changes require the FEMA to eliminate a variety of existing flood insurance subsidies. The public is encouraged to attend.

Coastal Water Garden Tour

This year’s tour includes 11 sites, several showcasing two or more water features. Designers include Drew Thorndyke of Cape Fear Water Gardens, Josh Rickards of Creative Cascades and Sue LoRusso of Hampstead Landscaping.
