A hit and run was reported to the Wrightsville Beach Police Department on West Salisbury Street around 10:38 p.m. Friday evening involving a 31-year-old Wrightsville Beach resident that was riding a bicycle. Captain Burdette of the WBPD said the cyclist was struck by Wilmington resident Kathryn Elizabeth Ridd, a 30-year-old white female, and received a severe laceration on his leg that required several stitches.

Although Ridd fled the scene, Burdette said Wilmington Police Department later pulled Ridd over on Pine Grove Drive in Wilmington and arrested her for driving while intoxicated.

During that same time the WBPD received a call about breaking and entering at a residence on Salisbury Street and personal property of Ridd’s was found inside, including her identification.

It was determined that Ridd was involved in both incidents and the WBPD obtained warrants for felony hit and run, and misdemeanor breaking and entering with a $10,000 secure bond.
