Wrightsville Beach Mayor David Cignotti announced today he will not seek a third term in office. In a letter to his board members, he states:

"After much thought and many conversations with my wife, Susan, I have decided not to seek a third term as mayor. I have never believed in waiting until the last minute to announce one's political intentions, thus informing everyone now provides ample time for those interested in running for mayor to give it proper consideration.

This is my 14th year of involvement in town affairs, six on the planning board and eight in elected office, not to mention serving on a variety of other boards. Serving the citizens of Wrightsville Beach and working with our town's staff has been the biggest honor of my life. I will continue to work hard to represent the majority of our citizens through the end of my current term."
