BREAKING NEWS: Board to fund county SROby Cole Dittmer Thursday, January 10, 2013
Board of Aldermen unanimously vote to provide New Hanover County $28,500 for the purpose of providing an SRO from the sheriff's department for Wrightsville Beach Elementary School for the rest of the school year.
All aldermen were in agreement that it would not be in the best interest of the town if Wrightsville Beach Police Department provided the one or two officers required to police the school's two campus locations. The aldermen also agreed that this should be a short term solution and that the NHC Board of Education should determine how to fund these officers next school year.
