H. Layton Bedsole Jr. will begin his new position as New
Hanover County’s Shore Protection Coordinator on Oct. 30.
In his new role, Bedsole will manage the county’s waterways,
shore protection and beach nourishment efforts.
Bedsole served as chairman of the county Port Waterway and
Beach Commission and also on the North Carolina Water Resources Congress and North
Carolina Port Advisory Council.
He has a bachelor’s degree in marine biology from the
University of North Carolina Wilmington along with more than 30 years of
environmental affairs and project management experience.
