Weather permitting, the New Hanover Humane Society Fall Yard Sale will be in full swing this Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 2405 N. 23rd St. While the shelter will also be open for adoptions, assistant manager Vale Shew says there will be plenty of useful items to buy for pets at home like food bowls, crates and other supplies donated for the cause.
“People in the community are very generous in bringing donations for the yard sale,” she said. “It is one of our larger fundraisers during the year.”
Money raised is funneled back into the Humane Society, including the spay/neuter clinic and other general supplies for the shelter.
“The community has been very supportive so that we don’t have to buy cleaning supplies and food,” Shew said. “And that helps us tremendously in keeping our doors open.”
